RICHLAND ONE TO HOLD PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS ON SCHOOL SAFETY

RICHLAND ONE TO HOLD PARENT INFORMATION SESSIONS ON SCHOOL SAFETY

Richland One parents will learn how they can support the district’s efforts to maintain safe and secure learning environments at two upcoming information sessions.

School safety and security procedures, student expectations and accountability, parent involvement, and district support services and interventions will be among the topics covered during the one-hour information sessions. Presenters will include district staff and representatives of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the Columbia Police Department.

“Keeping our schools safe and secure is a shared responsibility, and our parents play an important role in reinforcing that message to students, including encouraging them to report anything they see or hear that could pose a threat to safety to an adult.”

The dates and locations of the information sessions are listed below. Each session will begin at 6 p.m. Parents may choose the information session date and location most convenient for them.

  • Tuesday, March 19 – St. Andrews Middle School auditorium, 1231 Bluefield Road, Columbia
  • Monday, March 25 – Lower Richland High School auditorium, 2615 Lower Richland Boulevard, Hopkins

Time will be allotted at each session for questions. District administrators and law enforcement representatives also will be available after the information sessions to talk with parents and address any specific questions or concerns they may have.
