Marching Band Places Seventh in State Competition
The Marching Band Season - Fall of 2021 - Seventh Place in 3A State Championships
Greetings from Dr. Lee in the Band Room!
This season has been an extraordinary musical adventure for our students, staff, and designers. The band earned firsts in Walterboro and Blythewood, seconds at SCBDA 3A Lower State and White Knoll, a third at River Bluff, and seventh at the SCBDA 3A State Championship, along with three awards for Best Color Guard, two for Best Percussion, one for Best Music, and one Grand Champion Award. These awards are meaningful, and we shall continue to celebrate, but we chose the music from the Broadway Show Waitress as our vehicle because of the opening song-What's Inside?. The answer to the question is Love.
Love was at the center of our show design, rehearsals, and performance. Kathleen F. Lee's choreography and her Dreher Dance Company are a whole other level of FIRE and Jordan Knight's Rock Band was Lit! Very special thanks to our other Fine Arts folks-Hannah Brown for her exquisite vocal instruction, Kathleen Pennyway's phenomenal Drama students, and Ben Broughton's guitar wizardry. It is awesome and thrilling to have expert colleagues who collaborate, inspire, and relentlessly prepare our students!
