SCHOOLS WILL STAY CLOSED FOR REMAINDER OF THE YEAR

Governor Henry McMaster and State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman have announced that schools statewide will remain closed for the rest of the school year.

“We agree that not reopening schools at this time is the most prudent decision in protecting the health and safety of students and staff,” said Richland One Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon. “Our teachers and staff are able to continue to offer instruction and other supports as we take this time to prepare for the new normal of social distancing and other measures that may need to be implemented. Schools are, by nature, close-knit environments. Having time to assess conditions is crucial.”

Richland One students will continue e-Learning activities for the remainder of the year. The district’s IT Support Team will continue to provide e-Learning technical assistance to students, parents and staff, and buses will continue to serve as Wi-Fi hotspots at designated sites. Weekly meal pick-ups and deliveries for students also will continue.
