Julia Rayfied Wins Two Awards for her Artwork
Senior Julia Rayfield has learned that being an artist can be rewarding in many ways.
Julia's drawing of hands was selected as the winner of the McAndrew Award at the District's Art Fair. Accompanying this honor was a check for $300. Her piece will become part of the permanent collection at Dreher.
Additionally, Julia received the Notoriously Dapper Award, carrying with it a check for $500. Julia is a student of AP Art teacher Jennifer Gorlewski and is the daughter of proud parents Jennifer and Patrick Rayfield.
The Notoriously Dapper Award was newly established by Kelvin Davis (click here for a brief bio of our benefactor, Mr. Davis).
Shown here is Julia (second right) with her three District One art teachers: elementary school teacher Robert Clamp, middle school teacher Sharlyn Turlington, and high school AP Art teacher Jennifer Gorlewski.
Julia was presented the Notoriously Dapper Award by Sharon Davis, mother of benefactor Kelvin Davis.
Each school selected the best among the school's entries. Among Dreher's entries were:
*Dreher Teacher's Choice was senior AP Art student Florence Wang.
*First place to junior AP Art student Abigail Schroeder.
*Second place to a student in Katherine Pfromer's Art III Honors class, Jazmyn Quattlebaum.
*Third place to a sophomore in photography class of Katherine Pfrommer, McKayla Ellis.
*Julia Burden, a junior in AP Art, received Honorable Mention.
