Ten Dreher Seniors are National Merit Semifinalists

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced that ten Dreher seniors are 2020 National Merit Semifinalists.

These academically talented students are (from left to right in the photo) Mary Frances Shavo, Sarah Germany, Hanah Watts, Johan Willem Van Rosevelt, Catherine Reid, Julian Jackson Ellenberg, David Shealy, Rahul Bulusu, Alexander Randall, and Caroline Hynes.

Over 1.5 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMST Test in October, 2018.  Less than one percent of these students qualified as Semifinalists.

Dreher boasts more Semifinalists than all but three schools in South Carolina, two of which are magnet schools.  From this group of Semifinalists, the National Merit Finalists are chosen.
