Phase 2 Info - 11/2/20

Greetings Falcon Families!

We hope, as always, that this message finds you doing well and staying safe. We are busy getting Flora ready for our transition to Phase 2, and we are excited to have students returning to campus. This post contains a large amount of information related to Phase 2 and your student, so please read it and the links carefully. Whether you are returning to school or remaining at home on eLearning, we want ALL students and parents to be prepared and feel comfortable as we make this important transition.

First, please review the AC Flora Phase 2 Information Packet. You will find many details about health/safety procedures, arrival/dismissal procedures, the daily schedule, lunch, transportation, and more. It is very important that all students and parents review this document before Phase 2 begins on Thursday.

Next, review the Phase 2 Daily Schedule. Please note that this schedule includes information on cohort-specific schedules, eLearning schedules, and more. For this Wednesday, November 4th, we will remain on our current eLearning schedule, but, beginning on Thursday, November 5th we will transition to our Phase 2 Bell Schedule, which includes a slightly adjusted eLearning schedule, but the amount of class time and break time has not changed. More information on this can be found in the Phase 2 Information Packet.

We know that students will arrive to school in a variety of ways. The procedures for car riders, bus riders, and student drivers can be found in the Phase 2 Information Packet. Once we have bus routes, we will make sure to publicize them. Please also review the Carpool Map. We appreciate your patience as we adjust to the return of traffic around AC Flora in the mornings and afternoons. Please drive safely and look out for walkers!

In-person classes will begin at 8:00 am in your 1st Block classroom. Students who arrive before 7:50 will report to the New Gym. At 7:50, students will transition to their 1st Block classroom and arrive no later than 8:00 am. Student drivers may choose to stay in their own car until 7:50 or report to the Gym. Students arriving after 7:50 should report directly to their 1st Block classroom. We know that this will take some time to get used to, and we are prepared to be flexible as we all find our way in this new schedule. More information about these procedures can be found in the Phase 2 Information Packet.

We have also included information on daily health screenings that are encouraged for all families. We want to ensure a safe and healthy environment, and that starts with students remaining at home if they are sick, reporting positive tests or exposure, and seeing the nurse if you feel ill while on campus.

For our freshmen and new students, please review this video for some helpful information. This video was shared earlier this year, but it may be helpful to brush up on some of the basics of AC Flora. Take a look at our campus map, and feel free to watch our student leaders give a tour of the school here. Our faculty and staff will be ready to assist new students as they learn their way around campus over the next few weeks. We are here to help!

While we have worked hard to plan and prepare for this transition, we also know that adjustments may need to be made if the need arises. We will monitor the implementation of our plans this week and notify students and parents if any adjustments are needed. We thank you for following our procedures and for being flexible as we move forward together.

We know this is a lot of information, and we know that this transition comes with a wealth of emotions. Some may be excited and eager to return to school while others may be nervous or apprehensive. Whatever your emotions, please know that we are here to support you and your family as we make this transition together. We appreciate your continued patience, understanding, flexibility, and partnership as we seek to provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for ALL of our Falcons in Phase 2.

Thanks and Go Falcons!
