Information for Parents & Students (9/1/20)
Greetings Falcon Families!
We hope the first two days of school have been great for you and your family! While we have had a hiccup here and there, most students and teachers have reported a smooth start to the school year. We know that there will be challenges along the way, but we are in this together, and we appreciate your continued support!
First, we know some folks have questions about what exactly will happen on Wednesdays during eLearning. Even though Wednesday is designated as an "Intervention Day," teaching and learning will still occur and students must still sign on to their class Teams during their designated class times. While the exact nature may vary from class to class, this is not a "day off" for students. Attendance will be taken and we expect students to log on to their class Teams. As a reminder, tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2nd is an A-Day. Depending on your class level/type, you may experience the following on Wednesdays:
- For College Prep and Honors classes, Wednesdays will be a day to re-group and catch up. Your class may consist of completing an assignment or quiz, receiving extra help, small group tutoring, and/or conferencing with your teacher. Make sure your assignment or task is completed to earn your attendance credit for each Wednesday.
- For AP and IB courses, you will need to pay particular attention to each of your teachers' routines for Wednesdays. Some Wednesdays may be live class sessions, while other Wednesdays may be comprised of tasks, assessments, and/or AP/IB Exam practice. Wednesdays for AP/IB students follow the A/B rotation schedule. Remember to complete your work on Wednesdays to earn your attendance credit.
Next, for classes following the A/B-Day calendar, you may access/download the AC Flora year-long A/B-Day Calendar by clicking here. Please be sure to save this and keep it handy!
Next, the district is looking to ensure that we identify the internet needs of all our students. With that in mind, if you are in need of an internet hotspot, please fill out this form as soon as possible if you have not already received one from the school. Please note that filling out the form does not guarantee you will receive a hotspot, but we ask that anyone in need please do so.
Finally, we want to say thank you to our students, parents, and community for your support, flexibility, and understanding during this time. We also would like to thank our outstanding teachers who are working hard every day to ensure that your child has the best instruction possible. We are proud to be
Falcons, and we are happy to be on this journey together with you.
Thanks and Go Falcons!
