School Info Update - May 6th

Greetings Falcon Families!

We hope this message finds you well and that you are staying safe and healthy. As we get closer to the end of the school year, we wanted to make you aware of a few important items.

First, with respect to assignments and wrapping up the year, please note that all senior assignments will be due by May 15th. This is the date that was set by the State Department and we want to make sure seniors get all of their work wrapped up so that we can begin the process of finalizing their grades and graduation status. For underclassman, there will be no new work after May 22nd. After that date, the district is allowing the last two weeks of the year to be used for make-up work that may have been missed, not yet turned in, or affected in some way by the Covid-19 school closure. This means that your underclassman will have ample time and flexibility to get this work done.

Also note that we encourage students to begin making up any missed work now instead of leaving it until the end of the year.

Next, we are currently working as a school and as a district to finalize plans for dropping off items such as textbooks, laptops, uniforms, and any other school-issued equipment. We are also working on procedures for students to come and pick up graduation items, honor cords, athletic items/banners, yearbooks, and any other personal items that may have been left at school or need to be picked up. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make this complicated process safe and efficient for all involved. We will have an update on these details very soon and will communicate them as soon as we do.

In addition, we are already looking toward next school year. Information regarding student parking, summer reading, course assignments, student schedules, and more will be communicated once we have finalized those details after the end of this school year. We know these details will be important to you, and we are working to transition from this year to next year as smoothly and safely as possible.

We are also in the process of planning for graduation. We know that many of you are anxious to hear about these plans, and we will certainly communicate them as soon as we know more. The district is working hard on these plans as well, and we hope to be able to finalize and communicate these details soon!

Please continue to check the school and district web sites regularly, and do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns.

Finally, as you may know, this week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We have a top notch faculty at Flora, and we are proud of the work that our teachers are doing every day, especially during this time. We invite you to send a message of thanks and appreciation to your student's teachers, and we hope you will join us in celebrating the great things they do for our school and our students!

Thanks and Go Falcons!
