Richland One Middle College Graduate Interning with AgFirst Farm Credit Bank
Jeremiah Jenkins, a 2023 graduate of the Richland One Middle College, has been selected to intern with financial service company AgFirst Farm Credit Bank this summer. The internship is normally for college students, but Jeremiah qualified for the internship because of Richland One’s dual enrollment program with Midlands Technical College.
The internship program offers college students hands-on learning designed to “promote academic, career and personal development while providing future business leaders with the knowledge and skills required to become successful in their chosen career field.”
During his application process, Jeremiah interviewed with three different departments that were looking for an intern. He was selected to intern for the bank’s information technology (IT) department.
“This internship is a great chance for me to learn how to apply IT into my future ventures,” Jeremiah said.
May 16 was the first day of Jeremiah’s eight-week internship. He says the internship has been an amazing experience so far and he has made connections with different interns and employees at the bank.
“The work I’m doing is meaningful. I enjoy the work environment and everyone is so eager to help you,” Jeremiah said.
The bank also offers a free LinkedIn learning program that allows Jeremiah to take courses in programming.
Jeremiah will be studying computer science at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in the fall. He says he wants to learn as much as he can from his internship before he leaves for college.
“This is an opportunity many people won’t get, so I need to maximize what I can get out of it,” Jeremiah said.
