Dreher High School’s band program has earned the 2021-2022 Outstanding Performance Award from the South Carolina Band Directors Association, the highest honor for band programs in the state. Dreher’s program is one of only 10 band programs statewide to receive the recognition in the 3A division.
“This is a comprehensive award which highlights excellence throughout the entire program,” said Dr. Christopher Lee, director of bands at Dreher. “This was an especially hard year because our current students played most of the last two years online. We are so thankful for the training from the directors at Hand and Crayton middle schools that kept students engaged.”
Students demonstrated a high level of proficiency in all areas of their program to earn the award. They earned points through their success in marching band championships, region and all-state band competitions, concert performance assessment and solo and ensemble scores.
