Richland One, Prisma Health Offering COVID-19 Testing for Students and Staff

Again this year, Richland One has partnered with Prisma Health to offer on-site rapid COVID-19 tests for district students and employees who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, such as shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, and new or worsening cough (a more complete list of symptoms is provided below).

Please note that the testing is for Richland One students and staff only; parents/guardians and community members will not be able to get tested at the district testing sites.

The nasal swab tests will be administered by Prisma Health nurses at no cost to students or staff. Richland One’s COVID-19 testing sites will be open on Tuesdays only from 8-11 a.m. through February 15. Testing sites will rotate among the district’s seven high school campuses. The testing will be conducted outside in the parking lots in a drive-through/walk-through format.

All Richland One employees and all students (elementary, middle and high) will be eligible to be tested at any of these sites. Appointments are not required. Parents must contact their child’s school nurse and a sign consent form for their child to be tested. District employees also must sign a consent form to be tested.

The tests are designed for Richland One employees and students who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms including:

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • New or worsening cough
  • Sore throat
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Chills
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Fever

Richland One parents who have questions about the COVID-19 testing should contact the nurse at their child’s school. School staff who have questions should contact their school's nurse. District staff who have questions should contact the Nursing Services office.
