Lower Richland Students Win 8 Top State Health Occupation Awards


Lower Richland High School students took home eight first-place awards in the 2021 Virtual South Carolina HOSA State Leadership Conference, an annual competition which tests the skills and knowledge of students interested in health care careers.


Students who placed first, second, or third on the state level are eligible to compete in the 2021 Virtual HOSA International Leadership Conference in June.


In addition to those honors, Lower Richland student Jhurni Williams won the Barbara H. James Award and the Outstanding HOSA Member Award. Lower Richland HOSA chapter also won a $100 donation for “Be the Match,” its national service learning project.


HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is an international career and technical student organization that promotes careers in the health care industry. The organization is endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Technology Education Division of the Association for Career and Technical Education.
