Dreher High School orchestra students received multiple honors, including two perfect scores, in the recent South Carolina Music Educators Association’s Solo and Ensemble Virtual Festival 2020. The festival was held in November and December.
Students Catherine Akhvlediani and Ryan Borkowski earned perfect scores for their individual performances. Altogether, Dreher music students received 27 “superior” and two “excellent” ratings. “Superior” is the highest distinction awarded at Solo and Ensemble.
The district extends its congratulations to these young talented musicians, their orchestra teachers and Nathan Tucker, Dreher’s director of orchestras.
Tucker reflected on his students’ accomplishments with these words: “That these students were able to achieve this in such an unusual time for instrumental music education, or any education for that matter, is a testament to the outstanding and wonderful students we have in Richland One, as well as the quality of instruction they received at the elementary and middle school levels.”
