Richland One’s free summer meal program for children, which was scheduled to end July 27, will be extended several weeks since the district has pushed back the start date for the 2020-2021 school year.
At its July 21 meeting, the Board of School Commissioners voted to move the district’s school start date from August 19 to August 31 in preparation for the reopening of schools.
In response to that date change and its continued commitment to help families in need, the Office of Nutrition Services will extend the summer meal program into August.
On August 3 and August 10, families will continue to be able to pick up seven days of meals for each child on Mondays, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the following seven school sites: Lower Richland High, Southeast Middle, Eau Claire High, South Kilbourne Elementary, Hyatt Park Elementary, St. Andrews Middle and Carver-Lyon Elementary. However, Caughman Road Elementary, which currently serves as a pickup site, will no longer be a meal pickup location during the extended period.
