Richland One Encouraging Virtual Registration for Pre-Kindergarten due to COVID-19

Richland One is encouraging parents to register their children virtually for the 2020-2021 pre-kindergarten programs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The district has revised and updated its procedures so that parents no longer will take documentation to their child’s zoned school; instead, parents should submit all documents online (preferred method) or deliver documents to the Office of School Readiness and Pre-kindergarten Programs. Parents also will need to view a virtual parent information session and complete a survey. No parent information sessions are scheduled to be held at district school sites.

Detailed information for parents about the registration process is posted on the Office of School Readiness and Pre-kindergarten Programs website ( ).

To be eligible for the district’s 2020-2021 pre-kindergarten programs, children must have reached the age of four on or before September 1, 2020, and parents must reside within the Richland One school district.

These are the registration steps:

  1. Complete the online application at

  2. Scan and submit required documentation, including the child’s long-form birth certificate, current DHEC immunization form, proof of income (recent pay stubs or Medicaid card), current signed lease or mortgage statement, current utility bill, parent paperwork packet at and shared housing documentation (required only if parent’s/guardian’s name is not on both proof of residence documents). NOTE: Specific instructions on submitting scanned documents are posted at .

  3. View the virtual parent information session and complete the survey at

  4. Await notification from the Office of School Readiness and Pre-kindergarten Programs regarding your child’s application status.

Parents who prefer to drop off documentation instead of submitting it online may do so on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Office of School Readiness and Pre-kindergarten Programs, 2638 Two Notch Road, Suite 106.

Due to COVID-19, safety precautions will be posted for everyone to follow. Only one adult at a time will be allowed to enter the building to drop off documents. No additional people (other than the child who is being registered) may accompany the parent/guardian into the building. Note: The document drop-off preference may take additional time due to the adherence of social distancing and other COVID-19 safety measures.

Parents who need additional information should go to, contact their child’s zoned school or call (803) 799-9494.
