A painting by Dreher High School sophomore Gayle Boyd won double honors in the Youth Art Month Competition sponsored by the South Carolina Art Education Association. In addition to being named first-place winner for the Central Region, the painting won Best of Show for the state.
“This is quite an accomplishment, especially for a 10th-grade student,” said Dreher art teacher Katie Pfrommer. “Sadly she missed out on all of the exhibits and awards ceremonies because of our current [coronavirus] situation, but hopefully we can recognize her in the future for her outstanding work.”
