Information, Updates and Resources on the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Governor Henry McMaster and State Superintendent Molly Spearman announced that all South Carolina schools will remain closed through April 30, 2020, due to ongoing concerns about the spread of the coronavirus throughout the state.

We understand that this global public health crisis brings with it a lot of unknowns and a high level of stress and anxiety for many, but we’re all in this together and we can get through this together. We want our schools to reopen as soon as possible, but the health and safety of our students, staff and community remain our top priorities.

eLearning will continue while schools are closed. To help provide students with Internet access, we are stationing WiFi-equipped buses at nine locations across the district (other sites may be added later). Students and parents can sit in their vehicles within 200-250 feet of the buses to access free WiFi from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. The buses will be parked in front of the buildings or in other prominent areas at the designated sites. Students and parents will not be able to board the buses.

The bus WiFi access sites are: Burnside, Burton-Pack, Gadsden, Sandel, Edward E. Taylor, Watkins-Nance and Webber elementary schools; Columbia High School; and Lewis Scott Court Apartments in Eastover.

Also, starting March 30, meals will be distributed on Mondays only and families will be able to pick up a week’s worth of meals for students. The pick-up sites and times are posted at We also need parents to complete an online form to provide information to our Nutrition Services team:

We appreciate your continued patience, understanding and willingness to make necessary adjustments during this time. Please remain calm and know that we are here for you.
