Richland One congratulates seniors Porter W. Burkett of Dreher High School and Audrey N. Galimba of A.C. Flora High School on their selection as National Merit Scholarship winners.
Both students were awarded scholarships by the University of South Carolina where Porter will seek a degree in business and Audrey will major in pediatrics. In addition to being National Merit Scholars, both students are 2019 Richland One Academic All-Stars and High School Scholars, programs which honor seniors throughout the district for academic excellence.
To date, four Richland One students have received National Merit Scholarships. Two other winners of the National Merit Scholarships were announced in May.
Colleges and universities select scholarship winners from among the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program finalists who plan to attend their institutions. The awards provide $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.
