Two Richland One high school seniors are among the 31 South Carolina students awarded the prestigious $2,500 National Merit Scholarship.
Richland One congratulates Kylee Fulton of A.C. Flora High School and Leah Vazsonyi of Dreher High School on their selection as winners of these prestigious scholarships. Kylee, the daughter of Jeanette and David Fulton, plans to pursue a career in biochemistry. Leah’s college plans include studying in the field of physics. Her very proud parents are Agnes and Nicholas Vazsonyi. Both seniors also are Richland One Academic All-Stars and High School Scholars, two of the district’s highest academic honors.
National Merit Scholars were selected as winners from the pool of students who advanced to the finalist level in the National Merit Scholarship competition. The scholarships, which recognize academic excellence, are awarded based on a student’s academic record, standardized test scores, school leadership, community activities, an essay and school recommendation. Other National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced in June and July.
