Richland One to Hold Showcase of Schools December 5

For the first time ever, Richland One will hold an event where parents and community members can learn about all of its schools and the many programs, services, resources and advantages that are available to students throughout the district.

The Richland One Showcase of Schools will be held Wednesday, December 5 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street. Admission is free. Child care services will be provided by the district’s Office of Early Childhood Education.

Parents and other attendees can drop in at any time during the two-hour event and interact with staff members from all Richland One elementary, middle and high schools, as well as the district’s special schools, programs and centers, who will share information with them and answer their questions. Each school or program will have a display booth.

In addition to high-quality core academic instruction, all Richland One schools provide opportunities in visual and performing arts, world languages, physical education and health. Richland One also offers a wide array of programs designed to meet students’ needs and nurture their talents and interests, including language immersion, Montessori, International Baccalaureate, health sciences magnet, virtual school, career and technology education, firefighter certification, and leadership and career magnet programs.

“In Richland One, we have so much to offer our students that we wanted to have an event like the Showcase of Schools where parents can see the options that we have available for students and get the information they need in one place,” said Richland One Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon.

Parents, students, community members and families who may be moving into the district are encouraged to attend.
