Richland One and the Columbia (SC) Chapter of The Links, Inc. will hold a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the newly completed exercise fitness trail at Burton-Pack Elementary School on Monday, November 5 at 10:15 a.m. Burton-Pack is located at 111 Garden Drive.
The Columbia Links, which “adopted” Burton-Pack in 2014, coordinated the exercise fitness trail project to encourage students to work out longer and more often to improve their fitness and health. The trail includes outdoor fitness equipment, outdoor seating, planted trees and landscaping and healthy message signage, all designed to make exercise more fun. The ceremony also will include the unveiling of a mural in the school’s media center which features prominent historical figures.
Four local construction firms (AOS Specialty Contractors, Brownstone Construction, Contract Construction and Orion Construction) donated the labor and materials needed to excavate and pave the trail. Other trail partners and contributors were Columbia Green, Central Carolina Community Foundation and Palmetto Pride.
