11 Richland One Seniors Named 2019 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

 

Eleven Richland One high school seniors have been named semifinalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.

 

Nationwide, more than 16,000 seniors are competing in this prestigious national program which awards scholarships to academically talented students. In this high-stakes competition, students will compete for 7,500 scholarships worth $31 million. Finalists will be selected in February 2019, and scholarship winners will be announced in the spring and summer.

 

Richland One congratulates the following seniors for their selection as semifinalists, an honor that less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors achieve:

 

Dreher High School

  • Kathleen R. Allden
  • Porter W. Burkett
  • Jacob Lenski
  • Luke S. Lumpkin
  • Grace A. Stricklin
  • Leah Vazsonyi
  • Florence R. Wang

 

A.C. Flora High School

  • Kylee A. Fulton
  • Audrey N. Galimba
  • Jonathan A. Pertile
  • Philippa A. Richter

 

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and college scholarships. Semifinalists are chosen based on high scores on the PSAT. There are three types of awards: National Merit $2,500 scholarships that are single-payment awards; corporate-sponsored Merit awards that may be renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study or one-time awards; and college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards that are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study.

Dreher National Scholar Semifinalists

Eleven Richland One high school seniors have been named semifinalists in the prestigious 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program including Dreher High School students Kathleen Allden, Grace Stricklin, Leah Vazsonyi, Jacob Lenski, Luke Lumpkin, Porter Burkett and Florence Wang.

 


 

Flora National Scholars

Eleven Richland One high school seniors have been named semifinalists in the prestigious 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program including A.C. Flora High School students (seated) Philippa Richter, Audrey Galimba (standing), Jonathan Pertile and Kylee Fulton.
