Richland One Communications Team Wins Three National PR Awards

The Richland One Office of Communications received three awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for publications and digital media excellence.

Award entries submitted by school public relations professionals from across the country are judged using established criteria based on industry best practices. The 2024 award winners are listed on the NSPRA website and they will be recognized during NSPRA’s 2024 National Seminar, which will be held July 14-17 in Seattle, Washington.

Public Information Manager Ilyssa Weiner received two Awards of Excellence for excellence in writing – one for her feature on amputee Kaden Bagley, then a senior at A.C. Flora High School, and the other for her Employee Profile of Kavon Barger of A.J. Lewis Greenview Elementary School, who was the district’s 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year.

Richland One’s Communications team also received an Award of Merit in the special purpose publication category for the 2022-2023 Points of Pride edition of its Spotlight One publication, as well as an Honorable Mention for the 2023-2024 Fall-Winter edition of Spotlight One.

In April, the team received 19 state-level awards for outstanding communications and public relations efforts from the South Carolina chapter of NSPRA (SC/NSPRA).
