Richland One Nutrition Services Offering New Lunch Options for Students
Richland One’s Nutrition Services department is offering new lunch options for students this school year.
“Quick Pick” options are available for free at all schools. These meals feature fresh fruits or vegetables, milk and a bag of chips. If a student opts for less than three items, they will have to pay for them at the time of purchase via check or cash. Parents and guardians may add funds to their student’s account by contacting Nutrition Services at 803-231-6953. This option is ideal for students that may not want all of the offerings served or those that bring their lunches but may wish to supplement their meal with the Quick Pick option. The three items in the Quick Pick option must meet USDA standards for a reimbursable meal.
Lunchables are now available at all elementary and middle schools for free once a student selects the required items to make their meal reimbursable; for example, adding fruit or vegetables to the Lunchable option. Students can choose between Turkey and Cheddar Cracker Stackers or Extra Cheesy Pizza.
For a meal to be reimbursable, students must select three full portions of the five meal components (milk, meat/meat alternate, grain, fruits and vegetables). For all meals, one choice, of the minimum three, must be a fruit or vegetable.
As a reminder, all Richland One students can eat school meals at no cost to them or their families. Families do not have to fill out meal applications. The 2023-2024 school year is the ninth year that Richland One has participated in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program.
Breakfast and lunch meals follow the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) guidelines for healthy school meals. Please encourage students to participate in the school meal programs. For more information, contact Richland One Nutrition Services at (803) 231-6953.
Parents who do not want their children to participate in CEP may contact Nutrition Services at snsfeedback@richlandone.org.
