Richland One Announces 2022-2023 Coaches of the Year
Richland One has announced the Middle School and High School Coaches of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year. The announcement was made during the district’s Coaches Convocation on August 14 at W.J. Keenan High School.
Heyward Gibbes Middle School Head Football Coach Teran Rowe was named the Middle School Coach of the Year. Coach Aaron Lucas, head girls varsity basketball coach and head cross country coach at Lower Richland High School, was named the High School Coach of the Year.
“All of our coaches have worked hard throughout the year. These two coaches go above and beyond the scope of their work. The principals and athletics directors recognize this as part of the process for selecting Coaches of the Year,” said Richland One Athletics Director Bob Matz.
The other finalists for 2022-2023 Middle School Coach of the Year were:
- Bruce Davis – head football coach and head track coach, Hand Middle School
- Mark Davis – head football coach and assistant track coach, Hopkins Middle School
- Jason Pendergrass – head track coach, head boys basketball coach and assistant volleyball coach, Alcorn Middle School
- Warren Sewell – head boys basketball coach, Southeast Middle School
- Aaron Trapp – head football coach, St. Andrews Middle School
- Kelonda Trottie – head volleyball coach and head track coach, W.G. Sanders Middle School
The other finalists for 2022-2023 High School Coach of the Year were:
- Samuel Brown – head boys varsity basketball coach, Columbia High School
- Johnny Burbage – head baseball coach, W.J. Keenan High School
- Christopher Greene – head girls track coach, Eau Claire High School
- John O’Cain – assistant track and field coach, A.C. Flora High School
- Timothy Supplee – head cross country coach, Dreher High School
- Jamaal Williams – head wrestling coach, football defensive coordinator and assistant track coach, C.A. Johnson High School
