Richland One will hold “R1 Refresh: Connecting Mind, Actions and Attitude” on Saturday, August 20 from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Dreher High School auditorium, 3319 Millwood Avenue.
The purpose of the event is to increase mental health awareness and provide Richland One families with self-care and wellness tips and strategies.
“The COVID-19 pandemic and incidents that have occurred across the nation have heightened the need to address the issue of mental health,” said Richland One Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon. “We encourage all of our parents to attend R1 Refresh to receive vital information for children and adults about staying emotionally well.”
Speakers for the interactive sessions will include Zee Brown from the National Alliance on Mental Illness and Dr. Monica McConnell from the Columbia Area Mental Health Center. The event also will feature prize drawings, school supply giveaways and light snacks.
On-site registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. the day of the event, but parents also can register online in advance: bit.ly/r1refresh
