A.C. Flora Boys Golf Team Secures Second Consecutive State Championship; 16th Total

AC Flora GolfA.C. Flora High School’s boys golf team has garnered another Class 4A state championship with a total of 3 under 565, which also earned them the second-lowest 36-hole total in the state’s history.

The 2022 win is the team’s second consecutive state championship title and the 16th in the school’s history.

“We couldn’t be more proud of the A.C. Flora boys golf team. Our goal each season is to work hard, have fun and represent the school and the district in a positive manner,” said Robert Dargan, the team’s head coach.

Dargan said earning the championship has been a team effort.

“It’s a very unique environment when you have the school, our parents and our student athletes all working towards a common goal,” Dargan said. “When you add in the support of District Athletics Director Bob Matz, Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon and Richland One, it’s a great combination that helps foster success.” 

Members of A.C. Flora’s boys golf team include seniors and co-captains Burch Harrison and Luke Sullivan (both All-State Team members); juniors Will Buffum, Jack Hane, Adam Hunt (All-State Team) and Wallace Ott; sophomores Coleman Ferguson (All-State Team) and Thomas Lamar; freshmen Charles Cauthen (All-State Team), Jack Dougherty, James Rhodes and James Sullivan; eighth-graders Henry Anders, William Milliken and Thomas Sabilas; and seventh-grader Owen Atkinson. 

The team’s assistant coaches include Eric Bell, Mark Elam, Tom Elliott and Blair Dargan.
