  • A Message from the Principal

Mr. McClinton I am honored to serve as the Interim Principal of one of the last standing historical secondary schools founded for the education and training of African American students in the state of South Carolina.  C. A. Johnson High School was founded in 1948 and has a rich legacy known throughout the state of South Carolina and across the nation. This is personal for me because many of my family members and friends are graduates, former teachers, and coaches of this mighty school. With your help and support, we will continue to add to that legacy of excellence.

    Yours truly,

    Mr. Isaac McClinton, Interim Principal

  • Richland School District 1 will return to Phase 1 (eLearning) of our Restart Strong Reopening of Schools Plan through Friday, January 29, 2021.

The rationale for this continuation is as follows:

    • The District does not want to create a situation in which a series of schools may open only to have to close due to staffing concerns due to COVID-19 positivity rates, isolation and quarantine protocols.
    • The Districts wants to maintain as much consistency as possible in a particular learning modality.
    • Extending the return to eLearning also allows the district an opportunity to assess vaccination protocols for teachers and other staff.

Please note the following information for C.A. Johnson High School:

    1. Classroom assignments will remain the same during this time.

    2. The district will observe the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 18, 2021.
    3. School start times and end times and class periods will remain the same

    4. We will use the bell schedule of 8:00 AM – 3:15 PM as we have been.  Classes will meet for 90 minutes in length.   Remember 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM is DEAR Time so instruction actually starts for 1st block at 8:30.
