September 27, 2019: The Omicron Iota Lambda Chapter accepts male high school juniors and seniors into the Alpha Academy to provide mentorship and guidance to prepare them for college and adulthood. The Alpha Academy aims to promote academic excellence, leadership development, social enhancement, civic responsibility, and the appreciation for cultural heritage. For an application, click here.
November 5, 2019: The 2020 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards are open to students in grades 5-12 who have participated in a volunteer activity within the past year. Honors are granted at the local, state and national level. Top honorees from all 50 states and the District of Columbia receive a scholarship and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. for four days of special recognition events. November 16, 2019: The Mercer University School of Engineering is pleased to invite seniors to apply for their annual Scholarship Challenge at the Macon, Georgia campus on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Mercer plan to award valuable scholarships this fall to high school seniors who are interested in Mercer’s engineering, industrial management, and technical communications program. November 17, 2019: Come out and learn about the college financial aid process, test taking skills, and making the right college choice! This presentation will be given by the Columbia (SC) Alumnae Scholarship Committee Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The event will be held at 3:00 pm at the Delta Life Development Center (5307 Fairfield Road, Columbia, SC 29203).
December 11, 2019: LEDA is looking for juniors in high school who are highly motivated, have succeeded in advanced courses at their school, have the desire to be a leader, and have demonstrated compassion and care for their community. Students who attend our program feel more prepared to apply to selective colleges, pursue competitive scholarships, and make a positive impact on their communities with their leadership skills. February 27, 2020: High school juniors are invited to compete in the nationwide Theodore Roosevelt Public Speaking Contest to win scholarships and awards. For more information, click here.
January & Febrary 2020: Stanford is now accepting applications for all Summer 2020 programs. Deadlines for most of the summer programs are in February, with some early round deadlines at the end of January. Admission is selective, and some financial aid is available. March 21, 2020: Pre-Professional Advising at The University of South Carolina is hosting a workshop for high school students who are interested in a pre-med/health track in college. We will discuss academic groundwork, how to create a timeline for incorporating the essential out-of-the-classroom work, activities needed to craft a competitive application and have some hands-on activities as well. This program will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2020 from 9:00 am–12:00 pm at the Darla Moore School of Business at USC. The cost of the program is $40 dollars. To register, click here.
April 7, 2020: Denmark Technical College Office of Career Planning and Placement will be hosting their 4th Annual Career and College Expo for students, alumni, and community residents in and around the Allendale, Bamberg, and Barnwell counties on April 7, 2020 at 9:00am-12:00pm.
