Middle school students in the Richland One Career Exploration Magnet Program have multiple opportunities to explore various career pathways through academic and leadership development. Through a rigorous, fast-paced curriculum, students achieve high levels of engagement and success through our project-based learning units built around South Carolina state standards.

Each day, students make meaningful connections between what they are learning in class and the world around them. W.G. Sanders students are given multiple opportunities to serve in leadership capacities in their communities, school and country.

Program Type: School-within-a-school model

Grades: 6-8

Eligibility Criteria: Open to all Richland One students that 1) complete the district’s application process for the Magnet Program on the district’s website, 2) attend a Mandatory Parent Information Session at the school (dates, times, location below), and 3) complete and submit an Acceptance Form that will be sent to you via email on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Enrollment Capacity: 30 slots for 6th grade; 7th – 8th grade open slots are dependent on current students returning

Bus Transportation: Provided for all students
