A Message from the Principal

Greetings Pendergrass-Fairwold Family,

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! We are so excited to see all o four students' smiling faces entering the doors. As parent support is vital to students' success, we look forward to your participation throughout the school year at our special events. In the upcoming weeks, you will receive information about joining our School Improvement Council (SIC). One of our main goals for Pendergrass-Fairwold students continues to be maximizing our students' independence. We are excited to have our transition students working in our on-campus job enterprises. Our peer mentoring program will foster relationships with EXCEL students, resulting in opportunities for socialization with same-aged non-disabled peers.

Bus Driver Appreciation Week 2023

Bus drivers and bus aides are unsung heroes who deserve our heartfelt appreciation. They get kids to school on time by bringing them to buildings filled with the power of education. From the break of dawn to the final bell, bus drivers and bus aides deliver compassion and safety to millions of children around the country. We want them to receive the “thank-you” they deserve for playing a role in the lives of families every day.

Thank you so much to our drivers and aides for all you do to transport our students safely!

Academic packet drop-off box ready!!!

The academic packet drop-off box is ready to go! Located outside school office doors you can drop them off any time and pick up new packets. Please check with your child’s teacher for combination for the lock. We will be checking and emptying the box and getting your packets to your teachers diligently throughout the day. Please put the student's name on the packet.

Visitor's Notice

Our children's safety is our primary goal. For this reason, the following procedures will be followed for ALL vistors on campus.

A driver's license or picture ID must be presented and scanned during sign-in.

Every vistor's name will be checked against the national sex offenders database.

A printed nametag will be issued and must be worn prominently throughout the visit.

The visitor badge must be logged out and returned to the front desk at the conclusion of your visit.

Nurse's Corner

There is a nurse at the school daily; however if the nurse is not available, trained staff will handle medication distribution and any emergency that arises. If your child becomes ill while at school, the student needs to go to the nurse’s office to be checked. We will call you to come pick him/her up if necessary. Please always be sure the school has current phone numbers for you and other emergency contact persons.

Please let the school nurse know if your student has significant health history, life threatening allergies or special medical concerns.

All students must meet state immunization requirements in order to attend school. The goal of these requirements is to reduce and eliminate vaccine-preventable diseases among South Carolina’s children, adolescents and adults. Each student must have completed the required immunizations in order to attend school. Please be sure your child is up to date on all immunizations. Your child’s healthcare provider can help you determine if he/she needs further immunizations.

A mobile dental service, Dental Access Carolina, will be visiting schools in District One offering a full range of on-site general dental services, including dental exams, x-rays, cleanings, and fillings.

Officer Benson will be on campus daily, Monday through Friday, to provide safety and security of our students and staff as well as classroom visits, instructional support, student assistance and to provide answers to law enforcement questions.

PFS is committed to ensuring a safe school environment for students, staff and visitors.

Officer Benson is on campus during the school days when classes are in session. He is visible in the parking lots, main entrances to the school buildings, in the hallways, cafeterias and in his office.

Veteran's Day Message

In honor of Veterans Day, we remember all the veterans’ contribution as they always hold a special place in our hearts for their sacrifice and service. We honor all the men and women who’ve served our country in uniform, because they put their lives on the line to protect our, your and their families.

Without your bravery & compromises, we would never be here to thank you. Your footprints will always be followed when it’s time for us to protect the nation! We are not only thankful to you but also motivated by you. You have showed us how to be brave & honest. You will always be in our hearts.
