STEP 1: Apply for South Carolina Teacher Certification
Start the application process for South Carolina teacher certification. Visit the South Carolina State Department of Education Division of Educator Quality and Leadership’s website for valuable information regarding the certification application process for educators. This site provides up-to-date and relevant information pertaining to all facets of teacher certification, including but not limited to, the certification process, regulation changes, updating existing certificates and valuable links to information for educators. https://www.ed.sc.gov/educators/
(If certified, go to Step 2)
STEP 2: Online Application
Complete the online application and submit the following documents:
- Three confidential reference forms from supervisory administrators (i.e. immediate or past). These individuals must have supervised you in a classroom setting (i.e. principal, assistant principal, master teacher, university supervisor, etc.). The Richland One reference forms are available online and can be downloaded and printed from the online application main menu.
- Go to our Applitrack Page and click on APPLICANT FORMS. Reference forms are also available in the Office of Human Resources, 1616 Richland Street, Columbia, SC 29201. If you have completed references available on the South Carolina Common Teacher Application (CERRA/Winthrop), please email recruit@richlandone.org requesting that your reference be download from this site.
- A copy of a valid teaching certificate or Letter of Eligibility.
- Praxis Test Results (When applicable.)
STEP 3: Recommendations and Hiring
Candidates recommended for employment will receive notification from the Certified Employment Office of Human Resource Services. No offer is official unless extended by this office.
