Mrs. Detra Simmons

Hello Bulldog Family!

 

 My name is Mrs. Detra Simmons and I am so excited to be a part of the Bulldog Family! I will serve as the Assistant Principal for grades 3-5. I attended the University of South Carolina and received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. A few years later, I returned to the University of South Carolina and received my Masters Degree in Educational Administration. I am currently finishing up my second Master's Degree in Literacy with a focus in ESOL from Clemson University.

 

I have been an educator for 12 years, where I have served as a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teacher in Orangeburg Consolidated School District 5, Lexington School District 2, and Richland School District 2. I am an endorsed Gifted and Talented Teacher and I have completed the Foundations in School Leadership offered by the South Carolina Department of Education.

 

I am married and we have two beautiful children, a son who will be 10 and a daughter who will be 1 in October. Yes, two October babies, born 8 days apart! I believe that building lifelong relationships with students, parents, and the community is essential to education and is conducive to the learning environment.
