Meet our New Football Coach
Coach Marlin Taylor
Coach Marlin Taylor is coming to Lower Richand from Dutch Fork, where he has been the offensive line coach and has been part of winning 4 consecutive 5A State Championships. Coach Taylor is in his 13th year of coaching and began his coaching career at W.J. Keenan High School in 2008 as an assistant football coach and head wrestling coach. He then joined Ridge View High School as an assistant football coach and head wrestling coach.
Coach Taylor played his collegiate football career at Benedict College and received a B.S. in Community Recreation in 2006. He also holds a Masters degree in Special Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership, both from Grand Canyon University.
He is native to Wadmalaw Island, SC and is a 1998 graduate of St John’s High School on John’s Island, SC. During his high school career, Coach Taylor had the honor of playing his final year of high school football for legendary coach, Robert “Bob” Biggerstaff and was selected to play in the 1997 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
Coach Taylor has a tremendous passion for the game of football and the lifelong lessons it teaches that players will take with them beyond the game of football. Coach Taylor is married to his wife Courtney and is the father to two boys, Chase and Jory.
