  • Hornet Track Sends 8 to Upper State



    Hornet Family,

    On Thursday, April 28th, 10 members of the Green Hornets Track team participated in the Region 3-2A Track Championships. The other three participating schools were Keenan, Eau Claire, and out of town guest Saluda.

    With over 100 athletes participating in yesterdays event, C. A. Johnson qualified 8 track-letes who will participate in the Upper State Championships. Capping off the successful night was Senior Thrower, Jewel Walston, who won the Region Championship for Discus and Shot Put. A fourth place finish or better at Upper State will give these athletes a chance to compete for a State Championship. The Upper State meet will take place on May 6, 2017 at 12:00pm at Memorial Stadium. Congrats to these Track-letes and their Coaches!!

    On Saturday, March 25, 2017, two-sport athlete Kendrick Smith placed 4th in the State Championship Strength Meet. Kendrick a Sophomore at C. A. Johnson, who cap-tured the Region Championship crown two weeks ago, just fell short of his ultimate goal. Head Strength Coach Michael Spencer states, “He (Kendrick) is developing well, we have been training since the 8th Grade. If he continues to work hard, he has a chance to be a special athlete and champion one day.”

    Kendrick measured out with the following numbers:
     Broad Jump: 106 inches
     Bench Press: 235 pounds
     Squat: 350 pounds
     Finish: 4th Overall

  • Student C.A. Johnson High School standout Defensive End/Outside Linebacker Dahon Mixon has been selected to participate in the North-South All-Star Football game.  This game is a collection of some of the most talented football players in the State of South Carolina and is one of the highest honors a football player in South Carolina can receive.


    Dahon joins former Green Hornets standouts Wendell Bing and Michael Knox as recent representatives of C.A. Johnson in the All-Star game.


    This season, Dahon was a team captain for the Green Hornets.  The 6-4, 235lb Defensive End/Outside Linebacker was a three-year starter for C.A. Johnson and had a breakout campaign this season.  He finished the season with 92 total tackles, 65 solo tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles.  Dahon was also selected to the Region III-AA All-Region Team.  


    The game will be played on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 12 noon at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, SC.
