Watkins-Nance Elementary’s National Beta Club Awarded Grand Slam Service Award
Watkins-Nance Elementary School’s National Beta Club has been named a 2025 National Beta Club Grand Slam Service Award winner. Watkins-Nance was the only elementary school in South Carolina and one of 58 schools in the United States to receive this distinction.
To be named a Grand Slam award winner, each student in their school’s Beta Club chapter must spend an average of more than 100 hours serving their school, community and state during the school year.
Watkins-Nance’s Beta Club students served a total of 4,468 hours this school year, with each member serving an average of approximately 279 hours.
“I am very proud of these student leaders and their commitment to their classmates, school and community and I am excited about doing even more in the next school year,” said Watkins-Nance Assistant Principal Dr. Pamela Livingston, who serves as the Beta Club’s advisor.
Each student in the Beta Club will receive a commemorative pin, and Watkins-Nance’s club will receive a custom Louisville Slugger mini-baseball bat to display in the school.
