Richland One Nursing Services Coordinator Named Recipient of DAISY Nurse Leader Award
Eunice Jones, R.N., Richland One’s coordinator of nursing services, has been named the recipient of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award, becoming the first nurse leader from a school district in the United States to receive the award.
The awards program, which is run by the DAISY Foundation, recognizes those who typically do not work directly with patients but are able to “create an environment where compassionate, skillful care thrives.”
The DAISY Award for school nurses in Richland One started in May 2024. Richland One is the only school district in South Carolina and one of two in the United States to offer the award to school nurses.
“My job is to be here for my nurses. Having them get what they deserve is an honor enough for me. I was taken back and touched with the sentiments that they shared in regard to supporting that award [the DAISY Award],” said Jones. “A good leader is as good as the ones they lead. The nurses are the reason why we are what we are.”
