A.C. Flora High School Graduate Awarded Dr. John R. Stevenson Music Scholarship
Sara Weston, who graduated from A.C. Flora High School in May, has been awarded the 2025 Dr. John R. Stevenson Music Scholarship.
The $2,500 scholarship is awarded annually to a Richland One high school senior who plans to pursue post-secondary study in music. The scholarship is named in honor of Richland One Superintendent Emeritus Dr. John R. Stevenson, who served as the district’s superintendent from 1986-1994. Dr. Stevenson was inducted into the Richland One Hall of Fame in November 2004. He passed away in January 2019.
Along with taking honors, AP and International Baccalaureate courses, Sara was heavily immersed in the performing arts at A.C. Flora. She is a singer and a violinist who participated in chorus, orchestra and musical theatre. Sara received several honors and awards for her talents, including All-State Chorus and Honor Choir. She was also a Richland One High School Scholar and Academic All-Star.
Sara will further her studies in music at the University of South Carolina. Her career goal is to work in the music industry as a composer and a performer in voice.
