South Kilbourne Elementary Named Recipient of Dollar General Literacy Foundation Grant

South Kilbourne Elementary School has been named a 2026 recipient of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation’s youth grant. The foundation supports initiatives that help others improve their lives through literacy and education.

South Kilbourne received $3,500 from the foundation. The money will be used for new technology, books, and learning materials to support literacy initiatives and programs for multilingual students at the school.

Nora Fergani, a South Kilbourne multilingual learner program teacher, applied for the grant. She says it will allow multilingual students to have more opportunities to learn after the school day ends.

“I am beyond excited and grateful for Dollar General for this opportunity, and for believing that multilingual students can have intentional, hands-on and engaging instruction with the right resources,” said Fergani.

South Kilbourne was one of 27 schools, libraries, and non-profit organizations from South Carolina and one of more than 850 nationwide selected for the grant.
