Meet the Team: Mr. Anthony E. Alston

Anthony Alston serves as the Deputy Superintendent for Finance and Operations for Richland School District One. In this role, he provides executive leadership for the district's finance, operations, facilities, transportation, technology, security, athletics, and other operational services, ensuring that schools have the resources and support needed to help every student succeed.

Mr. Alston brings nearly three decades of experience in public education as a teacher, principal, district administrator, and executive leader. Throughout his career, he has been committed to building high-performing schools, developing strong community partnerships, and creating systems that improve student outcomes while maintaining operational excellence.

Prior to joining Richland One, Mr. Alston served in several leadership roles with Columbus City Schools and Metro Schools in Columbus, Ohio. His experience spans school leadership, district operations, strategic planning, STEM education, workforce development, community engagement, and external affairs. He has led initiatives that strengthened partnerships among schools, higher education institutions, businesses, and community organizations to expand opportunities for students and prepare them for college, careers, and life.

A native of Florence, South Carolina, Mr. Alston earned his bachelor's degree from South Carolina State University, graduate degrees from The Ohio State University, and a Master of Business Administration from Franklin University. He and his wife, D'Metria, are proud parents of four children and are grateful for the opportunity to return home to South Carolina to serve the students, families, and community of Richland School District One.
