Meet the Team: Dr. Ryan Pool

Dr. Ryan Pool is an education leader with over twenty years of experience in school leadership. For the past three years, he worked with AVID Center, an international education nonprofit organization, as an Implementation Strategist, supporting school systems in the Southeastern United States.

Pool previously served as the Executive Director of Secondary Schools for Lexington One School District in Lexington, South Carolina, as well as principal at Lexington Middle School and Lexington High School. He is a professor for the University of South Carolina's Education Leadership Department.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina, with a BA in Political Science, MAT in social studies, Masters in Education Administration, and Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Pool is an alumnus of the South Carolina School Leadership Executive Institute and the South Carolina Education Policy Fellowship, and has collaborated with the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness’ Education Initiative, TransformSC, to establish a statewide transformational leaders' network.

During a short hiatus from education, Pool served as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer for the Department of State, completing tours in Washington DC and the U.S. Diplomatic mission in Ecuador.
