Meet the Team: Dr. John A. Koumas

Dr. John A. Koumas serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Richland County School District One, providing strategic leadership for talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, workforce development, and organizational effectiveness.

Throughout his 25 years of service in public education, he has served as a Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Director, Executive Director, and Chief Human Resources Officer, bringing extensive experience in instructional, school, and district leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Capella University, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University, and a B.S. in Physical Education from Coastal Carolina University.

Dr. Koumas is married to his wife of 32 years, Jenny, and they are proud parents of three adult children: Justin, Jessica, and Jenna.
