A.C. Flora Named College Application Month School of Excellence

A.C. Flora High School has been named the 2025-2026 College Application Month School of Excellence by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (SCCHE), in partnership with the ACT’s American College Application Campaign (ACAC). The award recognizes a South Carolina high school that goes above and beyond to help seniors navigate and complete the college application process.

A.C. Flora was selected out of 256 South Carolina high schools that participated in SCCHE’s College Application Month campaign. It was also one of 26 high schools nationwide to be recognized as one of ACAC’s College Application Month Campaign Schools of Excellence.

The SCCHE and ACAC formally recognized A.C. Flora during a ceremony on September 15, one of the days seniors were getting assistance on their college applications. Speakers included Richland One Superintendent Dr. Todd Walker, South Carolina Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver, SCCHE President and Executive Director Dr. Jeff Perez, and ACAC Representative Tyler Morris.

“I’m extremely proud of A.C. Flora on being named the 2025-2026 College Application Month School of Excellence. Being selected for this award demonstrates that A.C. Flora goes above and beyond to help seniors successfully navigate the often-complex college application process,” Dr. Walker said during the ceremony.

Schools are selected based on several key measures, including participation in College Application Month, the average number of college applications submitted per participating student, and the hosting of an event to support FAFSA completion.

“This award is a testament to the work of our guidance department and other staff members who support our students so that they are college ready,” A.C. Flora Principal Susan Childs said during the ceremony.
