W.J. Keenan Marching Band Named Dillon Battle of the Bands Grand Champion for Second Consecutive Year

For the second year in a row, W.J. Keenan High School’s Marching Keenan Raider Rubber Band was named the Grand Champion of the Dillon Battle of the Bands for Class A and AA. The competition was held at Dillon Memorial Stadium October 25.

In addition to being named Grand Champions, the marching band placed first overall, received an “Excellent” rating and earned the Best Drum Major and Best Musical Performance awards for Class AA.

“This is our second grand championship at the Dillon Battle of the Bands. Our students performed so well, and they have worked hard. I'm so proud of them. They represent all that is wonderful about W.J. Keenan and Richland One,” said Howard Parnell, W.J. Keenan’s director of bands.

The Marching Keenan Raider Rubber Band also placed first overall for Class AA in the Spirit of the Cardinal Band Competition and won the 2025 South Carolina Band Directors Association’s Traditional High Step State Championship for Class A and Class AA.
