W.G. Sanders Quiz Bowl Team Wins State Championship of Academics

W.G. Sanders Middle School’s quiz bowl team won first place in the lower middle school division of the 2026 State Championship of Academics. The competition was held March 20 in Kershaw County.

W.G. Sanders also won the lower regional division competition. This is the second time that W.G. Sanders’ quiz bowl team has made it to the state championship.

“This group proved that perseverance beats the odds.  Making it to the state competition for the second time was already an accomplishment but winning it all made it unforgettable. We are incredibly honored to have coached such a dedicated, resilient team,” said Madison Hutto Muller, one of W.G. Sanders’ quiz bowl team coaches.

Also during the championship, Hand Middle School’s quiz bowl team placed second in the upper regional division and Dreher High School’s quiz bowl team placed third in the lower regional division.
