Thirteen Dreher Students Selected for All-State Guitar Ensemble

Thirteen Dreher High School students have been selected for the South Carolina Music Educators Association’s (SCMEA) All-State Guitar Ensemble. These students are among the best student guitarists in South Carolina.

Students auditioned for the ensemble by uploading a video of themselves performing excerpts of select songs. They were judged based on technique, posture, rhythm, accuracy and musicality.

Dreher junior Ari Floyd tied for overall top score in the state, with a 99/100 on his audition.

Senior Lane Oana is the seventh student in the All-State Guitar Ensemble’s history to be selected three times.

The ensemble will perform at Guitarfest, South Carolina’s guitar festival, May 2 at River Bluff High School, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Creek, a Class of 2009 graduate of Dreher who is a classical guitarist and teacher in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
