Seven Richland One Schools Earn Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards

Seven Richland One schools have earned the South Carolina Department of Education’s Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards, which recognize schools that attain high levels of performance and growth and make substantial progress in closing the achievement gap.

Schools are awarded based on an analysis of their 2024-2025 school report cards and feedback from a task force of principals.

Four Richland One elementary schools received Palmetto Gold Awards:

  • Brennen Elementary School
  • A.C. Moore Elementary School
  • Satchel Ford Elementary School
  • Brockman Elementary School

Three Richland One schools received Palmetto Silver Awards:

  • Annie Burnside Elementary School
  • Crayton Middle School
  • Rosewood Elementary School

The award criteria for elementary and middle schools focuses on academic achievement and student progress. To be eligible for a Palmetto Gold or Silver designation, an elementary or middle school must receive one of the following indicators:

  • Palmetto Gold:
    • Excellent Academic Achievement and Excellent Student Progress, or
    • Excellent Academic Achievement and Good Student Progress, or
    • Good Academic Achievement and Excellent Student Progress.
       
  • Palmetto Silver:
    • Average Academic Achievement and Excellent Student Progress, or
    • Good Academic Achievement and Good Student Progress, or
    • Excellent Academic Achievement and Average Student Progress.
