Satchel Ford Elementary Named First PALMI Region Award Winner
Satchel Ford Elementary School has been named the first ever Physical Adeptness and Literacy Model Institution (PALMI) Region Award winner for the Midlands by the South Carolina Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (SCAHPERD).
The award recognizes schools that excel at cultivating environments where students learn and thrive through movement.
Satchel Ford was selected for the award for its excellence in prioritizing physical activity, from strengthening physical education by meeting state standards and using fitness data to integrating brain-boosting movement inside and outside the classroom.
“We are honored to be the recipient of the PALMI Region award. This award is a testament to our staff, students and community. Satchel Ford is a special place where students can thrive in a variety of ways,” said Satchel Ford physical education teacher Chris Payne.
Satchel Ford will be recognized during the 2025 SCAHPERD Conference in Myrtle Beach November 14-16.
