Richland One Announces 2024-2025 Coaches of the Year

Richland One has announced the Middle School and High School Coaches of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year. The announcement was made during the district’s Coaches Convocation on August 8 at Dreher High School.

Dr. Jamarcus Little, who was the head boys basketball coach at W.A. Perry Middle School last year, was named the Middle School Coach of the Year.

“I’m so excited. I can’t believe I won. This award shows how much effort that the other coaches and I put into taking care of the athletes,” he said.

Ashley Gilmore, the head girls basketball coach and head girls cross country coach at Eau Claire High School, was named the High School Coach of the Year. The Shamrock girls basketball team won the Class AA Upper State Championship and finished their season as the runner-up for the Class AA State Championship title last year.

“I feel honored to be accepting this award. My coaches and I have worked so hard ever since I came to Eau Claire. I look forward to seeing the students work hard, give their best and never give up this school year,” said Gilmore.

The other finalists for 2024-2025 Middle School Coach of the Year were:

  • Bryan Bethea, athletics coordinator, head girls basketball coach and assistant track and field coach at Heyward Gibbes Middle School
  • Tyshawn Dow, head boys basketball coach at Hand Middle School
  • Dwayne Harvin, head track and field coach, assistant football coach and basketball scorekeeper at Hopkins Middle School
  • Zerita Johnson-Thomas, head cheerleading coach at St. Andrews Middle School

The other finalists for 2024-2025 High School Coach of the Year were:

  • Timothy Allen, head wrestling coach at Lower Richland High School
  • Pierre Fome, head boys soccer coach at Columbia High School
  • Robert McCray, head boys basketball coach at C.A. Johnson High School
  • Eric Navarro, head girls soccer coach at A.C. Flora High School
  • Zachary Norris, head boys basketball coach at W.J. Keenan High School
  • Sydney Vanlandingham, head girls soccer coach at Dreher High School
