For the fourth year in a row, Lower Richland High School’s Army JROTC drill team placed first overall in the Palmetto State Drill Championship. The competition was held December 6 at Lower Richland.
In addition to winning the state championship, the drill team also won first place overall in the Ridge View Midlands Drill Competition in September and the Lugoff-Elgin Drill Competition in November.
“Winning the state drill championship for the fourth year in a row is an incredible honor. I am extremely proud of our cadets. Their commitment to JROTC, their discipline and their dedication to excellence continue to set the standard. This victory reflects countless hours of practice, teamwork and determination. Our drill team represents the very best of our program,” said Sgt. First Class Tracy Vaulx, JROTC drill team coach.
The drill team will compete in the regional drill competition in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in March. This is the fifth consecutive year the cadets will be competing at regionals.
